Secondary Air Injection (AIR) valve, checking: Notes

Solenoid valve is closed when no voltage is present.
Recommended special tools and equipment
- V.A.G 1526 multimeter or V.A.G 1715 multimeter
- V.A.G 1594 connector test kit
- Wiring diagram
Test requirements
- The respective fuses of Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Valve -N112- must be OK:
Refer to Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component Locations
- Ground (GND) connections between engine and chassis must be OK.
- Ignition switched off.
Test sequence
Vehicles with engine code AFP

- Disconnect 2-pin connector from Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Valve -N112- (arrow).
Vehicles with engine codes BDF and BJS

- Disconnect 2-pin connector from Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Valve -N112- (arrow).
Continuation for all vehicles
- Check resistance between terminals of solenoid valve.
Specified value: 25.0 to 35.0 Ω
If specified value is not obtained:
- Replace Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Solenoid Valve -N112-:
- Vehicles with engine code AFP. Refer to Parts of Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system (vehicles with engine code AFP), removing and installing , item 5
- Vehicles with engine code BDF. Refer to Parts of Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system (vehicles with engine code BDF), removing and installing , item 25
- Vehicles with engine code BJS. Refer to Parts of Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system (vehicles with engine code BJS), removing and installing , item 25
- Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM). Refer to Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data
- Generate readiness code. Refer to Readiness code, generating
If specified value is obtained:
- Check wires to control module according to wiring diagram. Refer to Check wires to control module .
