CD Changer, removing and installing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Removal and installation described here is essentially the same for both Golf and Jetta models.

NOTE: When installing a new CD Changer in vehicle not previously equipped with one:
  • Prior to installation, CD Changer position (vertical or horizontal) must be set via the V/H switches. Check and reset if necessary. Refer to CD Changer position (V/H) switches, setting  .
  • Radio must be coded in order to support CD Changer functions. After installing new CD unit, input appropriate radio coding using On Board Diagnostic program function 07, "Code Control Module".

Removing 

CAUTION:

Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:

  • Switch off all electrical consumers.
  • Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.

Tightening torque: 3 Nm (27 in. lb.)

Installing 

NOTE: Radio sound system coding must be performed to account for presence of CD Changer, Monsoon amplifier (if installed) and interior sound field differences between models.
