Airbag Spiral Spring, removing and installing
NOTE:
The steering wheel from 03.98 and up differs from older versions merely by the procedure for removing and installing the airbag.
- Remove driver airbag. See DRIVER'S AIRBAG UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING up to 02.98 and DRIVER'S AIRBAG UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING 03.98 .
- Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Driver airbag unit and steering wheel removed.
- Disconnect single horn connector.
- Remove Phillips screws -1- and pull spiral spring -2- from steering wheel.
NOTE:
- Steering must be centered (wheels in straight -ahead position) when spiral spring is removed and installed.
- Spiral spring is secured as a new part in center position with cable tie.
