Code Control Module (function 07)

Coding is only possible when a new Airbag Control Module -J234- is used.

Connecting scan tool. See Scan tool, connecting VAG1551 or VAS5051 . Initiating On Board Diagnostic (OBD). See Airbag On Board Diagnostic (OBD), initiating .
Switch on ignition.

Airbag Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) -K75- illuminates.

Press button -1- for "Rapid Data Transfer" mode.

Press buttons -1- and -5- to select "Airbag" address word 15.

Airbag Control Module -J234- identification number with letter index, code number and dealer code is displayed.

If display is as shown coding is successful.

If Airbag Control Module -J234- code number entered is not accepted the following will be displayed:

In this case the Airbag Control Module -J234- has not been programmed. Therefore, coding is not possible. Airbag Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) -K 75- will not extinguish and is illuminated continuously. A check must be completed to see if the correct Airbag Control Module -J234- for the vehicle has been installed (compare Part No. and letter index), or whether an incorrect code number has been entered.

Ending function:
