Removal [06/2020 - 12/2021]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [06/2020 - 10/2022]

  2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  3. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2020 - ]

  4. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH 
    1. Using SST and a hammer, unstake the staked part of the front axle shaft nut.
      • SST: 09930-00010 
        1. 09931-00010
        2. 09931-00020

      NOTE:

      Loosen the staked part of the front axle shaft nut completely, otherwise the screw of the drive shaft may be damaged.

    2. While applying the brakes, remove the front axle shaft nut.
  5. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the front speed sensor and front flexible hose from the front shock absorber assembly.

      NOTE:

      Be sure to separate the front speed sensor and front flexible hose from the front shock absorber assembly completely.

    2. Remove the bolt, disengage the clamp and disconnect the front speed sensor from the front shock absorber assembly and steering knuckle.
      NOTE:
      • Prevent foreign matter from contacting the sensor tip.
      • Be careful not to damage the front speed sensor.
      • Clean the speed sensor installation hole and the contact surfaces every time the front speed sensor is removed.

  6. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  7. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  5

  8. REMOVE FRONT DISC 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  9. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and 2 nuts and disconnect the front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly from the front lower ball joint assembly.

  10. DISCONNECT FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Place matchmarks on the front axle hub LH and front drive shaft assembly LH as shown in the illustration.

      *a Matchmark
    2. Using a plastic hammer, disconnect the front drive shaft assembly from the front axle assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Do not push the front axle assembly towards the outside of the vehicle any further than necessary.
      • Check that there is no foreign matter on the speed sensor rotor or contact surfaces.
      • Do not damage the front drive shaft outboard joint boot.
      • Do not damage the front disc brake dust cover.
      • Do not damage the speed sensor rotor.

      HINT: 

      If it is difficult to separate the front drive shaft assembly from the front axle assembly, tap the end of the front drive shaft assembly using a brass bar and a hammer.

  11. REMOVE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and front axle assembly from the front shock absorber assembly.

      NOTE:

      When removing the nuts, keep the bolts from rotating.

  12. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Secure the front axle assembly between aluminum plates in a vise.

      NOTE:

      Do not overtighten the vise.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts, front axle hub sub-assembly and front disc brake dust cover from the steering knuckle.
      NOTE:
      • Do not drop the front axle hub sub-assembly.
      • Be careful not to damage the speed sensor rotor or contact surfaces.
      • Do not allow foreign matter to contact the speed sensor rotor or contact surfaces.
