Removal [03/2023 - ]: Procedure
- PRECAUTION NOTE:
- After the ignition switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
- Make sure to read the precautions of the electric parking brake system before removing the rear brake assembly.

- REMOVE REAR WHEEL
Refer to REMOVAL [12/2022 - ]
- PERFORM REAR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT MODE
Refer to REAR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT MODE [12/2022 - ] - DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL
- Perform the following procedure to prohibit brake control.
- Wait 4 minutes after turning the ignition switch off to ensure that the skid control ECU is in sleep mode.NOTE:
After turning the ignition switch off, opening/closing doors or operating the brake pedal will activate the brake control system, so do not open/close any doors or operate the brake pedal.
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
M20A-FXS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3
2ZR-FXE: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
- To put the skid control ECU into sleep mode completely, depress the brake pedal 40 times or more.
- Check that the brake pedal does not stroke.
- Wait 4 minutes after turning the ignition switch off to ensure that the skid control ECU is in sleep mode.
- Perform the following procedure to prohibit brake control.
- DRAIN BRAKE FLUID NOTE:
If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.
- SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY

- REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD
- REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 - REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE NOTE:
Each rear disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each rear disc brake pad support plate so that it can be reinstalled to its original position.
- REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
- REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSHING
- REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BUSHING DUST BOOT
- REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING
- REMOVE REAR DISC
