Removal [03/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:
    • After the ignition switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [12/2022 - ]

    • Make sure to read the precautions of the electric parking brake system before removing the rear brake assembly.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2022 - ]

  2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2022 - ]

  3. PERFORM REAR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT MODE 
    Refer to REAR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT MODE [12/2022 - ]
  4. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL

      1. Perform the following procedure to prohibit brake control.
        1. Wait 4 minutes after turning the ignition switch off to ensure that the skid control ECU is in sleep mode.
          NOTE:

          After turning the ignition switch off, opening/closing doors or operating the brake pedal will activate the brake control system, so do not open/close any doors or operate the brake pedal.

        2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

          M20A-FXS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

          2ZR-FXE: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

        3. To put the skid control ECU into sleep mode completely, depress the brake pedal 40 times or more.
        4. Check that the brake pedal does not stroke.
  5. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE:

    If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.

  6. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE

  7. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4
  8. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6
  9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  10. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

  12. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8
  13. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE 
    NOTE:

    Each rear disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each rear disc brake pad support plate so that it can be reinstalled to its original position.

  14. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN

      *1 Rear Disc Brake Cylinder Slide Pin (Upper Side) *2 Rear Disc Brake Cylinder Slide Pin (Lower Side)
  15. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSHING

      1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the rear disc brake cylinder slide bushing from the rear disc brake cylinder slide pin (upper Side).
        NOTE:

        Do not damage the rear disc brake cylinder slide pin (upper Side).

  16. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BUSHING DUST BOOT

      *a Matchmark - -
      1. Put matchmarks on the rear disc and rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
      2. Remove the rear disc.
