Installation [02/2024 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL NO. 1 TURBO WATER PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      1. Install 2 new gaskets as shown in the illustration.
      2. Install the No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts.

        Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf/cm, 9 ft.lbf) 

  2. INSTALL TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Stud bolt Nut
      1. Temporarily install the turbocharger sub-assembly to the engine sub-assembly with the 4 stud bolts.
      2. Using an E10 "TORX" socket wrench, install the 4 stud bolts.

        Torque: 19.5 N.m (199 kgf/cm, 14 ft.lbf) 

      3. Temporarily install the 4 new nuts.
      4. Install the turbocharger sub-assembly with the 4 nuts in the order shown in the illustration.

        Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf/cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

        NOTE:
        • After tightening the 4 nuts to the specified torque, tighten the first nut again.
        • Do not apply excessive force to the turbocharger sub-assembly and No. 1 turbo oil pipe.
  3. INSTALL NO. 2 TURBO WATER HOSE

      1. Connect the No. 2 turbo water hose to the water outlet sub-assembly and slide the hose clamp to secure the hose.
        NOTE:

        The turbocharger sub-assembly may be damaged if the No. 2 turbo water hose are connected to the wrong locations.

        HINT: 

        Make sure that the claws of the hose clamp are within the location shown in the illustration.

  4. INSTALL NO. 1 TURBO WATER HOSE

      1. Connect the No. 1 turbo water hose to the engine water pump assembly and slide the hose clamp to secure the hose.
        NOTE:

        The turbocharger sub-assembly may be damaged if the No. 1 turbo water hose are connected to the wrong locations.

        HINT: 

        Make sure that the claws of the hose clamp are within the location shown in the illustration.

  5. INSTALL NO. 1 TURBO OIL PIPE

      1. Install a new gasket as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        Do not install the gasket upside down.

      2. Temporarily install the No. 1 turbo oil pipe with the 2 nuts.
      3. Tighten the 2 nuts.

        Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf/cm, 9 ft.lbf) 

      4. Install a new gasket as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        The claws of the gasket must face the No. 1 turbo oil pipe.

      5. Install a new gasket to the union bolt side.
      6. Temporarily install the No. 1 turbo oil pipe with the union bolt and 2 bolts.
      7. Tighten the union bolt.

        Torque: 35 N.m (357 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf) 

        NOTE:

        If the connecting part of the union bolt gasket is cracked, remove the connecting part.

      8. Tighten the 2 bolts.

        Torque: 24 N.m (245 kgf/cm, 18 ft.lbf) 

  6. INSTALL NO. 3 OIL COOLER TUBE CLAMP 

    Torque: 13.5 N.m (138 kgf/cm, 10 ft.lbf) 

  7. CONNECT ENGINE WIRE

      Connector Bolt
      Nut - -

      for Bolt 

      Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

      for Nut 

      Torque: 9.8 N.m (100 kgf/cm, 87 in.lbf) 

  8. CONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE CLAMP 

    Torque: 13.5 N.m (138 kgf/cm, 10 ft.lbf) 

  9. CONNECT NO. 2 TURBO WATER HOSE

      *c 45° (Claw of Clip Location) - -
      1. Connect the No. 2 turbo water hose to the water outlet sub-assembly and slide the hose clamp to secure the hose.
        NOTE:

        The turbocharger sub-assembly may be damaged if the No. 1 turbo water hose and No. 2 turbo water hose are connected to the wrong locations.

        HINT: 

        Make sure that the claws of the hose clamp are within the location shown in the illustration.

  10. CONNECT NO. 1 TURBO WATER HOSE

      1. Connect the No. 1 turbo water hose to the engine water pump assembly and slide the hose clamp to secure the hose.
        NOTE:

        The turbocharger sub-assembly may be damaged if the No. 1 turbo water hose and No. 2 turbo water hose are connected to the wrong locations.

        HINT: 

        Make sure that the claws of the hose clamp are within the location shown in the illustration.

  11. INSTALL NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE

      *e 9.0 to 15.0 mm (0.354 to 0.591 in.) *f 15° (Claw of Clip Location)
      1. Attach the clamp and install the No. 2 hose ventilation hose.
      2. Connect the No. 2 hose ventilation hose to the cylinder head cover sub-assembly and compressor inlet elbow sub-assembly and slide the 2 hose clamps to secure the hoses.

        HINT: 

        Make sure that the claws of the hose clamp are within the location shown in the illustration.

  12. INSTALL COMPRESSOR INLET ELBOW SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

  13. CONNECT VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE ASSEMBLY 
  14. CONNECT NO. 3 FUEL VAPOR FEED HOSE 
  15. CONNECT NO. 2 AIR HOSE 
  16. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR HOSE

      *a Retainer - -
      1. Connect the No. 1 air hose to the intercooler assembly and lock the 2 retainers as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        Securely insert the retainer so that the 4 locks are engaged. Then, pull and check that the locks are engaged and that the hose cannot be pulled out.

        HINT: 

        • Install so that the protrusion on the intercooler assembly and the stoppers are aligned.
        • Make sure that the retainer end contacts the stopper as shown in the illustration.

  17. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  18. INSTALL AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  19. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH NO. 1 AIR CLEANER HOSE

      *a Cutout *b Protrusion

      *e 90° - -
      1. Attach the 4 clips to install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with air cleaner hose in the position shown in the illustration.
      2. Tighten the hose clamp in the position shown in the illustration.

        Torque: 4.0 N.m (41 kgf/cm, 35 in.lbf) 

        HINT: 

        Align the hose clamp at the locations shown in the illustration.

      3. Connect the mass air flow meter connector and attach the wire harness clamp.
  20. INSTALL CONVERTER WITH CATALYST ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [02/2024 - ]

  21. ADD ENGINE OIL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  22. ADD ENGINE COOLANT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  23. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  24. INSPECT FOR ENGINE OIL LEAK 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  25. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  26. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 

    See step  4

  27. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 47

  28. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 48
