Removal [03/2019 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. SECURE VEHICLE 
    1. Fully apply the parking brake and chock a wheel.
      WARNING:
      • Make sure to apply the parking brake and chock a wheel before performing this procedure.

      • If the vehicle is not secure and the shift lever is moved to N, the vehicle may suddenly move, possibly resulting in an accident or serious injury.
  2. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  4. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  5. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  9. REMOVE ECM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  10. REMOVE BATTERY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

  11. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Remove the bolt and nut to disconnect the engine wire from the battery clamp sub-assembly.

  12. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  13. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECT CABLE 
    1. Move the shift lever to N.
    2. Remove the nut and disconnect the floor shift transmission control select cable from the control shaft lever.

    3. Remove the clip and disconnect the floor shift transmission control select cable from the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket.
  14. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

    2. Remove the nut, washer and control shaft lever from the park/neutral position switch assembly.
    3. Using a screwdriver, bend back the tabs of the lock plate.

    4. Remove the lock nut and lock plate from the park/neutral position switch assembly.
    5. Remove the 2 bolts and park/neutral position switch assembly from the continuously variable transaxle assembly.
