On-Vehicle Inspection [07/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL 

    HINT: 

    Always check the engine oil level when the engine is at operating temperature (engine oil temperature > 70°C).

    Vehicle information / Control unit list / DME / Call up control unit functions / Diagnostic request / Diagnostic request / 103 Engine oil tempreture

    1. Park vehicle on a horizontal surface.
    2. Stop engine.
    3. Wait approximately 5 minutes.
    4. When using the diagnosis system:
      1. Connect the diagnosis system to the vehicle and enter the following menus:

        Vehicle management / Service functions / Drive / Engine electronics / Engine oil / Motor oil quantity

    5. When not using the diagnosis system:
      1. Read off the engine oil level in the combination meter assembly or on the multi-display assembly.
    6. Top up engine oil if necessary.
  2. INSPECT OIL PRESSURE 
    1. Remove the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

    2. Remove the oil filter cap assembly.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

    3. Remove the oil filter element.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

    4. Install the oil filter element (1) in the special tool 2 289 603.

      • SST: 09200-WA970 
    5. If necessary, install O-ring (2).
    6. Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-ring.
    7. Using a 32 mm socket wrench, install and tighten the special tool 2 289 603.

      • SST: 09200-WA970 

      Torque: 25 N.m (255 kgf/cm, 18 ft.lbf) 

    8. Connect special tool 0 491 260 (13 3 061) with special tools 0 491 262 (13 3 063) and 2 289 603.
      • SST: 09200-WA97009200-WA93009200-WA950 
    9. Start the engine.
    10. Measure the oil pressure, and check that the oil pressure changes according to engine speed.
    11. Stop the engine.
    12. Remove special tools 0 491 260 (13 3 061), 0 491 262 (13 3 063) and 2 289 603.

      • SST: 09200-WA97009200-WA93009200-WA950 
    13. Detach the oil filter element (1) from the special tool 2 289 603.

      • SST: 09200-WA970 
    14. If necessary, remove O-ring (2).
    15. Install the oil filter element.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

    16. Install the oil filter cap assembly.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

    17. Install the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 40

    18. Check engine oil level.

      See step  1
