Installation [07/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. REPLACE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Materials harmful to health.

    1. Contact with fluids harmful to health.
      • Note and follow safety information on containers.
      • Conduct all work in appropriate personal protective equipment only.
    NOTE:

    Damage to the transmission.

    1. Damage to the transmission by unapproved transmission oil.
      • Use only the approved transmission oil.

        Manual transmission fluid

      • Check the transmission oil level after completing the repair.

        See step  2

    HINT: 

    • Exchange transmissions come filled with oil
    • Collect and dispose of emerging fluids. Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
    • After installing the gear sensor, it is necessary to teach in the position of the gear sensor again.
    • The adjustment is performed using the "Service function" of the diagnosis system (learn/write gear sensor).
    1. Remount the gearshift rod joint (2).

    2. Slide back the circlip (3) and drive out the cylindrical pin (1).
    3. Check the damping disc (1) in gearshift rod joint (2) for damage and renew if necessary.

    4. Remount the release bearing and release lever.
    5. Remount the ball pin and wire spring clip.
    6. Remount the stud bolts for clutch slave cylinder.
    7. Remount the exhaust bracket.
    8. Remount transmission mounting bracket.
    9. Remount the transmission housing sound insulation.
    10. If necessary, remount the reversing light switch.
    11. If applicable, re-insert gear sensor, screws using Loctite.
  2. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Materials harmful to health.

    1. Contact with fluids harmful to health!
      • Note and follow safety information on containers.
      • Conduct all work in appropriate personal protective equipment only.
    NOTE:
    • Damage to the transmission.

      Damage to the transmission by unapproved transmission oil.

      • Use only the approved transmission oil.

      • Check the transmission oil level after completing the repair.

        See step  2

    • Clutch damage.

      When the transmission is unscrewed, the transmission must not hang freely because this may cause a deformation of the clutch disc.

      • Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
    1. Flange-mount transmission.

    2. Fit the transmission E11 or E14 bolts (arrows) and apply hand-tight.
  3. CONNECT NO. 2 EARTH WIRE 
    1. Install the No. 2 earth wire (2).

    2. Tighten down nut (1).

      Torque: 19 N*m (194 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

  4. INSTALL NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  5. FULLY TIGHTEN MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect connector (1) to the transmission.

    2. Connect connector (1).
    3. Grease gearshift rod pins (1) of gearshift rod (2).

      HINT:

    4. Hook gearshift rod (1) into gearshift lever (3) in the direction of the arrow.

    5. Insert retaining clip (2).
    6. Hook gearshift rod (1) in the direction of the arrow into the gearshift rod joint (3).

    7. Insert retaining clip (2).
    8. Renew bolts (1).

    9. Install the clutch slave cylinder (2) with the bracket (3).
    10. Insert bolts (1) and tighten.

      Torque: 19 N*m (194 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

    11. Tighten the E11 or E14 bolts in sequence (1) to (9).

      E11 Bolt 

      Torque: 19 N*m (194 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

      E14 Bolt 

      Torque: 66 N*m (673 kgf*cm, 49 ft.*lbf)

  6. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY WITH CENTER BEARING 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  7. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 42

  8. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 41

  9. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  10. INSTALL FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  11. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  12. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [03/2019 - ]

  13. INSPECT MANUAL TRANSMISSION OIL 

    See step  2

  14. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  15. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  16. INSTALL OIL PAN COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  17. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER LOWER PROTECTOR

  18. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER

  19. INSTALL BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

  20. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
