- DRAIN COOLANT (TOYOTA GENUINE FC STACK COOLANT (Pre-mixed)) WARNING:
- When the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) is hot, do not remove the reserve tank cap, FC radiator assembly drain cock plug or the intercooler assembly side drain cock plug.
- Fluid and steam may spray out due to high pressure, possibly resulting in burns.
*1 Reserve tank cap *2 FC Radiator Assembly Drain Cock Plug *3 Intercooler Assembly Side Drain Cock Plug - - NOTE:Collect the removed coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) and measure the amount, then check that the same amount or greater has been added when coolant is refilled.
- Connect a hose with an inside diameter of 9 mm (0.354 in.) to the FC radiator assembly drain cock as shown in the illustration.
*a Hose *a Hose Connect a hose with an inside diameter of 8 mm (0.315 in.) to the intercooler assembly side drain cock plug as shown in the illustration.
- Loosen the FC radiator assembly drain cock plug and intercooler assembly side drain cock plug.
*1 Reserve tank cap *2 FC Radiator Assembly Drain Cock Plug *3 Intercooler Assembly Side Drain Cock Plug - - - Remove the reserve tank cap. Then drain the engine coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)).NOTE:
Collect the removed coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) and measure the amount, then check that the same amount or greater has been added when coolant is refilled.
- Tighten the FC radiator assembly drain cock plug and intercooler assembly side drain cock plug by hand.
- Disconnect the hose from the FC radiator assembly drain cock plug and intercooler assembly side drain cock plug.
- ADD COOLANT (TOYOTA GENUINE FC STACK COOLANT (Pre-mixed)) NOTE:
- Make sure to use the GTS to perform air bleeding of the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) passages.
- If air bleeding is performed without using the GTS, the air bleeding of the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) passages may be incomplete.
- If the vehicle is driven while the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) system is contaminated with air, the following DTC may be stored.
DTC No. Detection Item P1D2F-00 FC Coolant Pump Performance P1DE4-00 FC Cooling System Performance - Before refilling coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant 50), check "Filling instructions when refilling coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant 50)".
HINT:
The coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) capacity: 16.4 liters (17.3 US qts, 14.4 Imp. qts)]
- Natural injection
- Remove the reserve tank cap.
- Remove the FC cooling water ion exchanger element.
Refer to REMOVAL [11/2020 - 12/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2022 - 12/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2023 - ]
- Fill the FC cooling water ion exchanger assembly approximately half-full with the Toyota genuine coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)).
*1 No. 9 FC radiator hose *2 No. 13 FC radiator hose - Squeeze the No. 9 FC radiator hose and No. 13 FC radiator hose several times by hand and then check the coolant level in the FC cooling water ion exchanger assembly. If the coolant level is low, fill with the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)).
- Install the FC cooling water ion exchanger element.

- Pour coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) up to the MAX line of the FC radiator reserve tank assembly and install reserve tank cap.
- FC stack coolant Amount Check + Fill
- Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
- Using the GTS, check that the SOC is 40% or higher.

Tester Display Hybrid/EV Battery SOC Result
Result Action Below 40% Charge by using the THS charger.

*1 Auxiliary Battery *a Battery Charger - Set the rotary valve to a 50% open position during the Active Test.
Powertrain > EV > Active Test
Tester Display Control the Radiator Rotary Valve - Exit the Active Test.
- Turn the ignition switch on (READY).[*1]
HINT:
If the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant 50) level is very low after turning the ignition switch on (READY), the water pump is operated and air bleeding is performed for approximately 1 minute without starting the FC system.
Result
Result Action "FC System Malfunction" is displayed on multi-information display Go to next step "FC System Malfunction" is not displayed on the multi-information display Go to Bleed Air + Fill - Clear the DTCs.
- Turn the ignition switch off (IG).
- Remove the reserve tank cap.
- Pour coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) up to the MAX line of the FC radiator reserve tank assembly and install reserve tank cap.
HINT:
Repeat the steps following turning the ignition switch on (READY) [*1] until the FC system starts.
- Bleed Air + Fill
- Following the instructions on the GTS, perform the utility "FC Stack Coolant Air Bleeding".

Tester Display FC Stack Coolant Air Bleeding HINT:
- Coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) filling is performed multiple times during the air bleeding procedure.
- If the ignition switch was turned on (READY) during air bleeding, wait for 1 minute before proceeding to the next step.
- If an error is displayed during air bleeding, start over the Utility (air bleeding).
- If the GTS screen displays instruction to inject into the FC cooling water ion exchanger assembly, use the following procedures to fill the coolant.
- Remove the FC cooling water ion exchanger element.

- Fill the FC cooling water ion exchanger assembly approximately half-full with the Toyota genuine coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)).
*1 No. 9 FC radiator hose *2 No. 13 FC radiator hose - Squeeze the No. 9 FC radiator hose and No. 13 FC radiator hose several times by hand and then check the coolant level in the FC cooling water ion exchanger assembly. If the coolant level is low, fill with the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)).
- Install the FC cooling water ion exchanger element.

- Remove the FC cooling water ion exchanger element.
- When the screen shown in the illustration is displayed, exit the Air Bleeding Utility.
- Operate the vehicle for approximately 5 minutes and check that the heating function operates normally.
- If it is not possible to fill with the amount or more of the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) as much as removed or the heating function does not operate normally, perform the following procedure.
- Turn OFF the air conditioning system.[*1]
- Set the heater valve to the middle position during the Active Test.[*2]
Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Active Test
Tester Display Heater Valve - Slide the clip and disconnect the water hose sub-assembly E from the water hose sub-assembly D.[*3]
*1 Water Hose Sub-assembly E *2 Water Hose Sub-assembly D - Using a dropper, fill with the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) from the water hose sub-assembly until the coolant level can be seen.[*4]
- Connect the water hose sub-assembly E to the water hose sub-assembly D, and slide the clip to secure the hose as shown in the illustration.[*5]NOTE:
Do not apply excessive force to the water hose sub-assembly E.

Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Active Test
Tester Display Water Pump - Operate the electric water pump for approximately 3 minutes and bleed air during the Active Test.
- Check the coolant level of the FC radiator reserve tank assembly and refill up to the MAX line if the coolant level is low.
- Check if the heating function operates normally.[*7]
HINT:
If the heating function does not operate normally, perform the procedure from steps [*1] to [*7] 3 times.
- Exit the Active Test.
HINT:
If it is not possible to fill with the amount or more of the coolant (Toyota genuine FC stack coolant (Pre-mixed)) as much as removed or the heating function does not operate normally, perform the coolant adding procedure from the first step again.
- When air is completely bled, check the coolant level of the FC radiator reserve tank assembly and refill up to the MAX line if the coolant level is low.
- If the engine coolant level is above the MAX line, drain engine coolant so that the engine coolant level is the MAX line.
- Following the instructions on the GTS, perform the utility "FC Stack Coolant Air Bleeding".
