Removal [11/2020 - 11/2021]: Procedure
- PRECAUTION
Refer to PRECAUTION [11/2020 - ] NOTE:After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
- DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL
- Wait at least 2 minutes after turning the power switch off.NOTE:
When the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch is turned on even if the ignition switch is off, the brake control system activates. Therefore do not depress the brake pedal or open/close the doors until the reservoir level switch connector is disconnected.
- Disconnect the connector from the brake master cylinder reservoir assembly
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
Refer to REMOVAL [11/2020 - 11/2021]
- Depress the brake pedal 40 times or more to return all the fluid in the accumulator back to the reservoir.
- Check that the brake pedal cannot be further depressed.
- Wait at least 2 minutes after turning the power switch off.
- REMOVE REAR WHEEL
Refer to REMOVAL [11/2020 - 12/2023]
- DRAIN BRAKE FLUID NOTE:
If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.
- REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE FITTING KIT
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5
- REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD KIT
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 - REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7
- DISCONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE
- REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH
- REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG
- REMOVE REAR DISC LH
*a Matchmark - - Contract - - - Put matchmarks on the rear disc LH and the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH.
HINT:
Not required when replacing the rear disc LH.
- Release the parking brake and remove the rear disc LH.
HINT:
If the rear disc LH cannot be removed easily, use a screwdriver to turn the shoe adjuster as shown in the illustration in order to contract the parking brake shoes.
- Put matchmarks on the rear disc LH and the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH.
