Steering Pad Switch Circuit [02/2017 - 08/2020]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2017 - 08/2020]

    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [02/2017 - 10/2017] , or refer to INSPECTION [10/2017 - 08/2020]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2017 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2017 - 10/2017] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2017 - 08/2020]

    2. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [02/2017 - 10/2017] , or refer to INSPECTION [10/2017 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2017 - 10/2017]  , or refer to  COMPONENTS [10/2017 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - FORWARD RECOGNITION CAMERA) 
    1. Disconnect the F29 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the R5 forward recognition camera connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the chart below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F29-12 (DIST) - R5-3 (LKSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      F29-12 (DIST) or R5-3 (LKSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Connect the R5 forward recognition camera connector.
    5. Connect the F29 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the F29 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A38 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the chart below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F29-2 (ECC) - A38-35 (ECCS) Always Below 1 Ω
      F29-2 (ECC) or A38-35 (ECCS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Connect the F29 spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly connector.
    5. Connect the A38 ECM connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [02/2017 - 09/2019]  , or refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2019 - 08/2020]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
