DTC P0504: Brake Switch "A" / "B" Correlation [12/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK SPECIFICATIONS 

    Check the vehicle specifications.

  2. CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A58-2 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      A58-4 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      RESULT

      OK B

    Result: 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BATTERY)

  3. CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the stop light switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A59-2 (B) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      A59-5 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BATTERY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the stop light switch assembly (for Bulb Type Stop Light) (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 ).
    2. Inspect the stop light switch assembly (for LED Type Stop Light) (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1 ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK ECM (STP AND ST1 - VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Brake Pedal Operation Specified Condition
      A39-35 (ST-) - Body ground Released 7.5 to 14 V
      Depressed 0 to 1.5 V
      A39-36 (STP) - Body ground Released 0 to 1.5 V
      Depressed 7.5 to 14 V

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - 08/2016] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM)
