Removal [12/2015 - ]: Procedure
- PRECAUTION
(Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2015 - ] )
- TURN FRONT WHEELS TO FACE STRAIGHT AHEAD
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WARNING:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTE:When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2016 - 11/2017] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2017 - ] ).
- REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
(Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] )
- REMOVE NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [12/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [08/2016 - ]
- REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
- REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3
- REMOVE STEERING PAD
Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4
- REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
See step 6
- REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER
- REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER
- REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the connectors from the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
- Using pliers, expand the clamp.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION
*1 Clamp *a Claw - While holding the clamp expanded, raise the claw using a screwdriver to disengage it, and then remove the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.NOTE:
- Do not replace the spiral cable with the battery connected and the ignition switch to on.
- Do not rotate the spiral cable with the battery connected and the ignition switch to on.
- Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
- Do not remove the steering sensor from the spiral cable.
- REMOVE TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER (w/ Engine Immobiliser System)
- SEPARATE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
- REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
