Removal [12/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2016 - 11/2017] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2017 - ] ).

  2. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER 
    1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover.

  3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the No. 3 side.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD

    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Push in the 3 snap rings to disengage it from the 3 pins.
      NOTE:

      Lightly hold the steering pad to prevent it from falling.

    4. Pull the steering pad toward the rear.
      NOTE:

      When removing the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

    5. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, release the 2 locking buttons.

    6. Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    7. Disconnect the horn terminal.
