DTC B1820-55: Short in Front Driver Side - Side Squib Circuit; DTC B1821-55: Open in Front Driver Side - Side Squib Circuit; DTC B1822-55: Short to GND in Front Driver Side - Side Squib Circuit; DTC B1823-55: Short to B+ in Front Driver Side - Side Squib Circuit [08/2015 - 08/2017]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connector is properly connected to the front seat side airbag LH.

      OK

      The connector is properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connector is not connected securely, reconnect the connector and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connector from the front seat side airbag LH.
    5. Check that the terminal of the connector is not damaged.

      OK

      The terminal is not deformed or damaged.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG LH (SEAT AIRBAG WIRE LH) 
    1. Connect the black wire side of SST (resistance: 2.1 Ω) to connector C.

      WARNING:

      Never connect the tester to the front seat side airbag LH (side squib LH) for measurement, as this may lead to a serious injury due to airbag deployment.

      NOTE:
      • Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting SST.
      • Insert SST straight into the terminals of the connector.
      • SST: 09843-18061 
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1820, B1821, B1822, B1823 or 55 is output A
      DTC B1820, B1821, B1822, B1823 or 55 is not output (w/ Manual Seat) B
      DTC B1820, B1821, B1822, B1823 or 55 is not output (w/ Power Seat) C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1820, B1821, B1822, B1823 and 55 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    Result: 

    B 

    REPLACE FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2017] )

    Result: 

    C 

    REPLACE FRONT SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result:

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect SST from connector C.
    4. Check that the connector is properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly.

      OK

      The connector is properly connected.

    5. Disconnect the connector from the center airbag sensor assembly.
    6. Check that the terminal of the connector is not damaged.

      OK

      The terminal is not deformed or damaged.

    7. Check that the short spring for the floor wire connector with the activation prevention mechanism is not deformed or damaged.

      OK

      The short spring is not deformed or damaged.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SIDE SQUIB LH CIRCUIT) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      O6-1 (SFL+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      O6-2 (SFL-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O6-1 (SFL+) - O6-2 (SFL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector B (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 ).
    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O6-1 (SFL+) - O6-2 (SFL-) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      O6-1 (SFL+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      O6-2 (SFL-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR 
    1. Restore the released activation prevention mechanism of connector B to the original condition.

    2. Connect the connectors to the front seat side airbag LH and the center airbag sensor.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    8. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).

      OK

      DTC B1820, B1821, B1822, B1823 or 55 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1820, B1821, B1822, B1823 and 55 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

    (Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2015 - 08/2017] )

    REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2017] )
