DTC P0982: Shift Solenoid "D" Control Circuit Low (Shift Solenoid Valve S4); DTC P0983: Shift Solenoid "D" Control Circuit High (Shift Solenoid Valve S4) [08/2017 - 08/2019]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT NO. 1 TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S4) 
    1. Disconnect the D41 No. 1 transmission wire connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      14 (S4) - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 11 to 15 Ω

    Result: 

    NG 

    See step  3

    Result: 

    OK 

    See step  2

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 TRANSMISSION WIRE - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the D56 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D56-59 (S4) - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 11 to 15 Ω

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  3. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S4 
    1. Remove the shift solenoid valve S4.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Shift solenoid valve S4 connector terminal - Shift solenoid valve S4 body 20°C (68°F) 11 to 15 Ω
    3. Connect the battery positive (+) lead to the terminal of the solenoid valve connector, and the negative (-) lead to the solenoid valve body. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating noise.

      OK

      Valve moves and makes an operating noise.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION WIRE 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S4 

    (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 )
