Removal [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work. Refer to:

    PRECAUTION [08/2015 - 08/2017] , or refer to

    PRECAUTION [08/2017 - 08/2019] , or refer to

    PRECAUTION [08/2019 - ] ).

  2. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 
    WARNING:
    • Do not disconnect any part of the fuel system until you have discharged the fuel system pressure.
    • After discharging the fuel pressure, place a cloth or equivalent over fittings as you separate them to reduce the risk of fuel spray on yourself or in the engine compartment.
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to:

      INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 08/2017] , or refer to

      INITIALIZATION [08/2017 - 08/2018] , or refer to

      INITIALIZATION [08/2018 - 08/2019] , or refer to

      INITIALIZATION [08/2019 - ]

    2. Turn the lock lever and disconnect the connector of the fuel pump ECU.

    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    4. Start the engine. After the engine has stopped on its own, turn the ignition switch off.

      HINT: 

      DTC P0171/0174 (system too lean) may be set.

    5. Crank the engine again, and then check that the engine does not start.
    6. Loosen the fuel tank cap, and then discharge the pressure in the fuel tank completely.
    7. Connect the connector of the fuel pump ECU.

    8. Turn the lock lever and secure the connector with the lock lever.

  3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the No. 2 fuel tube from the fuel pressure regulator (for quick type A) (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

  6. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tube from the fuel delivery pipe (for quick type A) (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

    2. Disconnect the fuel tube from the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe (for quick type A) (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

  7. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Detach the clamp.

    2. Disconnect the No. 1 fuel pipe from the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe (for quick type B) (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).
  8. DISCONNECT NO. 3 VENTILATION HOSE 
    1. Disconnect the No. 3 ventilation hose and No. 6 wire harness connector.

  9. REMOVE NO. 3 ENGINE COVER 
    1. Remove the No. 3 engine cover.
  10. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and fuel delivery pipe.

      NOTE:

      When removing the delivery pipe, hold the pipe by both ends and pull it straight upward.

    2. Remove the 2 spacers and 4 insulators from the intake manifold.
  11. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the No. 1 engine cover.
  12. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the No. 7 wire harness connector.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 fuel delivery pipe.

      NOTE:

      When removing the delivery pipe, hold the pipe by both ends and pull it straight upward.

    3. Remove the 2 spacers and 4 insulators from the intake manifold.
  13. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the fuel injector from the fuel delivery pipe, and then disconnect the injector connector.

      NOTE:

      For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to the injector shaft.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the fuel injector.
