Door Mirror Foot Light Circuit [08/2015 - 08/2017]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FOOT LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Mirror ECU / Active Test / Foot Light.
    5. Check that the Puddle light turns on/off.
      MIRROR ECU

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Foot Light Puddle light ON or OFF -

      OK

      Puddle light turns on/off.

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check for CAN communication system DTCs output.

      OK

      CAN communication system DTCs are not output.

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2015 - 08/2017] )

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Identify the control system where the problem occurs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      All of the following apply A
      When changing the shift position B
      When operating the ignition switch C
      When opening or closing a door D
      When operating a door lock E

    Result: 

    REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 )

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SHIFT SW STATUS (P RANGE)) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Shift SW Status (P Range)
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      ENGINE AND ECT

      Shift SW Status (P Range) PNP switch status/
      ON or OFF
      Shift lever is:
      • In P: ON
      • Not in P: OFF
      When shift lever position displayed on Techstream differs from actual position, adjustment of PNP switch or shift cable may be incorrect

      The Techstream display changes normally when shift lever is moved.

      RESULT

      NG (for two wheel drive model) B
      NG (for four wheel drive model) C

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (IG SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List / IG SW.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      MAIN BODY

      IG SW Ignition switch status/
      ON or OFF
      Ignition switch is:
      • On: ON
      • Not on ON: OFF

      OK

      The Techstream display changes normally when ignition switch is operated.

    REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 )

    NG

  6. INSPECT FUSE (ECU-IG NO. 2) 
    1. Remove the ECU-IG No. 2 fuse from the main Body ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      ECU-IG No. 2 fuse Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reinstall the ECU-IG No. 2 fuse.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FUSE 

  7. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (COURTESY SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      MAIN BODY

  8. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (DOOR LOCK POSITION SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List / D-Door Lock Pos SW.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      D-Door Lock Pos SW Front door lock switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Front door lock switch ON
      OFF: Front door lock switch OFF

      OK

      The Techstream display changes normally when door lock switch is operated.

    REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 )

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2015 - 08/2017] )

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR - MIRROR ECU, BODY GROUND)

    1. for LH:
      1. Disconnect the M5 outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
      2. Disconnect the M8 mirror control ECU connector.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        M5-6 (LP+) - M8-17 (LP) Always Below 1 Ω
        M5-5 (LP-) - Body Ground Always Below 1 Ω
        M5-6 (LP+) - Body Ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      4. Reconnect the mirror control ECU connector.
      5. Reconnect the outer rear view mirror assembly LH connector.
    2. for RH:
      1. Disconnect the L6 outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.
      2. Disconnect the M8 mirror control ECU connector.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        L6-6 (LP+) - M8-37 (LP) Always Below 1 Ω
        L6-5 (LP-) - Body Ground Always Below 1 Ω
        L6-6 (LP+) - Body Ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      4. Reconnect the mirror control ECU connector.
      5. Reconnect the outer rear view mirror assembly RH connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  10. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the outer rear view mirror assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).

    2. Apply battery voltage to the terminals and check that the puddle light turn on.

      OK

      Measurement Connection Specified Condition
      Positive battery (+) → 6 (LP+)
      Negative battery (-) → 5 (LP-)
      Puddle light turn on.
    3. Reinstall the outer rear view mirror assembly.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 )

    Result: 

    NG

  11. INSPECT PUDDLE LIGHT 
    1. Temporarily replace the puddle light bulb with a new or normally functioning one (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).
    2. Check that the puddle light turn on.

      OK

      Puddle light turn on.

    Result: 

    OK 

    END 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY
