Installation [06/2015 - 11/2018]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER BUSH LH 
    1. When reusing the rear axle beam assembly:
      1. Align the alignment mark on a new rear axle carrier bushing LH with the matchmark on the rear axle beam assembly and temporarily install the rear axle carrier bushing LH to the rear axle beam assembly.

        NOTE:

        Be sure to install the rear axle carrier bushing LH in the same direction as it was before removal. The rear axle carrier bushing LH has to be installed in a specific direction.

      When using a new rear axle beam assembly:

      1. Temporarily install a new rear axle carrier bushing LH as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        Be sure to install the rear axle carrier bushing as shown in the illustration. The rear axle carrier bushing has to be installed in a specific direction.

    3. Using SST, install the rear axle carrier bushing LH to the rear axle beam assembly.
      • SST: 09710-30012

      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the rubber portion when installing the rear axle carrier bushing.
      • Apply grease to the threads and tip of the SST center bolt before use.

  2. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER BUSH RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  3. INSTALL REAR AXLE BEAM DYNAMIC DAMPER LH 
    1. Install the rear axle beam dynamic damper LH to the rear axle beam assembly with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) 

  4. INSTALL REAR AXLE BEAM DYNAMIC DAMPER 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  5. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY 
    1. Slowly jack up the rear axle beam assembly with an engine lifter using 2 wooden blocks and 2 attachments or equivalent tools, and temporarily install the rear axle beam assembly to the vehicle with the 2 bolts (B).

      NOTE:

      Make sure to secure the rear axle beam assembly to prevent it from dropping.

    2. Temporarily install the rear axle beam assembly to the rear shock absorber assemblies LH and RH with the 2 bolts (A) and 2 nuts.
      NOTE:

      Because the nuts have their own stoppers, do not turn the nuts. Tighten the bolts with the nuts secured.

      HINT: 

      Insert the bolts with the threaded end facing the outside of the vehicle.

  6. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING UPPER INSULATOR LH 

    See step  1

  7. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING UPPER INSULATOR RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  8. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING LOWER INSULATOR LH 

    See step  2

  9. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING LOWER INSULATOR RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  10. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING LH 

    See step  3

  11. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  12. INSTALL REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    See step  4

  13. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Clean the installation surfaces of the parking brake assembly LH and rear axle beam assembly.
    2. Temporarily tighten the parking brake assembly LH to the rear axle beam assembly with the nut.
      NOTE:

      Do not twist the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly when installing the parking brake assembly.

      HINT: 

      Fully tighten the nut after installing the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH.

    3. Install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the rear axle beam assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 6.0 N*m (61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf) 

  14. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  15. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [06/2015 - 11/2018]

  16. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  17. FULLY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Fully tighten the nut.

      Torque: 140 N*m (1428 kgf*cm, 103 ft.*lbf) 

  18. FULLY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  19. INSTALL REAR NO. 4 BRAKE TUBE 
    1. Install the rear No. 4 brake tube to the rear axle beam assembly.

      Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf) 

  20. INSTALL REAR NO. 3 BRAKE TUBE 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the rear No. 4 brake tube side.

  21. CONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH 
    1. Install the rear flexible hose LH to the rear axle beam assembly.

      Torque: 19 N*m (194 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Using a union nut wrench, connect the rear flexible hose LH to the rear No. 4 brake tube.

      Specified tightening torque 

      Torque: 15.2 N*m (155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Do not kink or damage the brake lines.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake lines from the connecting parts.

      HINT: 

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

        Refer to PRECAUTION [06/2015 - ]

      • When using a union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.866 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 162 mm (6.38 in.)): 13.4 N*m (137 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

  22. CONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE RH 
    1. Install the rear flexible hose RH to the rear axle beam assembly with a new clip.
      NOTE:
      • Install the clip as far as it will go.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake line from the connecting parts.
    2. Using a union nut wrench, connect the rear flexible hose RH to the rear No. 3 brake tube.

      Specified tightening torque 

      Torque: 15.2 N*m (155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Do not kink or damage the brake lines.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake lines from the connecting parts.

      HINT: 

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

        Refer to PRECAUTION [06/2015 - ]

      • When using a union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.866 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 162 mm (6.38 in.)): 13.4 N*m (137 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

  23. INSTALL REAR DISC (for LH Side) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  24. INSTALL REAR DISC (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  25. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG 
    1. Install the 2 parking brake shoe adjusting hole plugs to the rear disc.
  26. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 72 N*m (734 kgf*cm, 53 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Install the rear brake tube flexible hose to the rear axle beam assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Install the clip as far as it will go.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake line from the connecting parts.
    3. Using a union nut wrench, connect the rear brake tube flexible hose to the rear No. 4 brake tube.

      Specified tightening torque 

      Torque: 15.2 N*m (155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Do not kink or damage the brake lines.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake lines from the connecting parts.

      HINT: 

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

      • When using a union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.866 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 162 mm (6.38 in.)): 13.4 N*m (137 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)
  27. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  28. INSTALL SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE LH 

    See step  5

  29. INSTALL SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  30. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the rear suspension brace sub-assembly to the vehicle.

      Torque: 45 N*m (459 kgf*cm, 33 ft.*lbf) 

  31. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR CENTER COVER RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  32. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR CENTER COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  33. ADD BRAKE FLUID 
  34. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  35. INSTALL LUGGAGE TRIM SERVICE HOLE COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  36. BLEED BRAKE LINE 

    Refer to BLEEDING [06/2015 - ]

  37. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  38. INSTALL REAR WHEEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  39. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  40. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY 

    See step  8

  41. INSTALL REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER LH

  42. INSTALL REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER RH

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  43. INSPECT REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

  44. PERFORM YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR CALIBRATION

  45. INSPECT ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE [06/2015 - ]

  46. ADJUST LANE DEPARTURE WARNING CAMERA 

    Refer to ADJUSTMENT [06/2015 - 11/2018]

  47. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [06/2015 - ]
