Removal [06/2015 - 11/2018]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 MOTOR UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  3. DRAIN HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  4. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT 
    1. Using SST and a hammer, release the staked part of the front axle shaft nut.

      • SST: 09930-00010 
        1. 09931-00010
        2. 09931-00020
      NOTE:

      Fully loosen the staked part of the front axle shaft nut, otherwise the threads of the drive shaft may be damaged.

    2. While applying the brakes, remove the front axle shaft nut.
  5. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR 
    1. Disengage the clamp and remove the bolt (A) and separate the front speed sensor.

    2. Remove the bolt (B) and separate the front speed sensor.
      NOTE:

      Prevent foreign matter from contacting the sensor tip.

  6. SEPARATE FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  7. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  8. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  9. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  10. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the front drive shaft assembly and front axle hub sub-assembly.

      *a Matchmark
    2. Using a plastic hammer, separate the front drive shaft assembly from the front axle assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to damage the front axle outboard joint boot.
      • Do not push the front axle assembly towards the outside of the vehicle any further than necessary.

      HINT: 

      If the parts are stuck and difficult to disengage, use a brass bar and a hammer to tap the tip of the front drive shaft assembly.

    3. Using SST, remove the front drive shaft assembly from the FCV transaxle with motor assembly.
      • SST: 09520-01010 
      • SST: 09520-24010

      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the front drive shaft oil seal.
      • Do not damage the front axle inboard joint boot.
      • Do not drop the front drive shaft assembly.

      HINT: 

      Measure the size of the gap between the front drive inboard joint assembly and FCV transaxle with motor assembly, and use the measured value for reference when installing.

  11. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT HOLE SNAP RING 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the front drive inboard join hole snap ring from the front drive inboard joint assembly.
