Replacement [12/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. REPLACE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID 
    1. Lift the vehicle. [*1]
      NOTE:

      Set the vehicle on a lift so that the vehicle is kept level when it is lifted up (make sure that the tilt angle from the front to rear of the vehicle is within +/- 1°).

    2. Remove the No. 1 engine under cover.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

    3. Separate the front fender liner LH.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

    4. Remove the front fender apron seal LH.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13 , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

    5. Remove the refill plug and gasket from the automatic transaxle assembly. [*2]

    6. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the overflow plug and gasket from the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly. [*3]

    7. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube from the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly and drain the automatic transaxle fluid. [*4]

      *1 No. 1 Transmission Oil Filler Tube
      *a Hexagon Socket Wrench
      *b Overflow Plug Hole
    8. Measure the amount of fluid that you drained. [*5]

      HINT: 

      Add the same amount of fluid in step [*8].

    9. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube to the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly. [*6]

      Torque: 0.8 N*m (8 kgf*cm, 7 in.*lbf) 

    10. Temporarily install the gasket and overflow plug. [*7]

      HINT: 

      Reuse the old gasket as the overflow plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

    11. Add fluid to the refill hole using the same amount of fluid drained in step [*5]. [*8]

      NOTE:

      Use Toyota Genuine ATF WS.

    12. Temporarily install the gasket and refill plug to avoid fluid spillage. [*9]

      HINT: 

      Reuse the old gasket as the refill plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

    13. Lower the vehicle. [*10]
    14. Start the engine. [*11]
    15. Slowly move the shift lever from P to D, and then back to P. [*12]
    16. Allow the engine to idle for 30 seconds to warm it up. [*13]
    17. Turn the ignition switch off. [*14]
    18. Repeat steps [*1] to [*14].
    19. Repeat steps [*1] to [*10].
  2. ADJUST FLUID TEMPERATURE (for Using the Techstream)

  3. ADJUST FLUID TEMPERATURE (for not Using the Techstream)

  4. ADJUST FLUID LEVEL

  5. REBUILD WORK
