Removal [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - 11/2016]

  2. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY SETTING BOLT 
    1. Turn the crankshaft to gain access to the removable locations of the 6 drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolts and remove each drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolt while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.

      HINT: 

      There will be one black colored drive plate and torque converter assembly setting bolt.

  3. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 63

  4. INSTALL ENGINE HANGERS 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 64

  5. REMOVE FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 69

  6. REMOVE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the wire harness clamp.

    2. Turn the lock lever and disconnect the wiring harness connector.
    3. Remove the 2 bolts from the wiring harness connector.

    4. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  7. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

      *a Park/Neutral Position Switch Connector
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and disengage the 5 clamps to disconnect the wire harness from the automatic transaxle assembly.
  8. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using the transmission jack attachment, set the automatic transaxle assembly on a transmission jack.
      NOTE:
      • Secure the automatic transaxle assembly to the transmission jack using a suitable adapter, such as a rope or attachment.
      • To prevent the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly from deforming, do not place any attachments onto the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly of the automatic transaxle assembly.
      • Hold the engine assembly with a suitable adapter, such as a rope, during the operation.
    2. Remove the 9 bolts and automatic transaxle assembly.

      NOTE:

      To prevent damage to the knock pins, do not pry between the automatic transaxle assembly and engine assembly.

  9. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER 
    1. Slide the 4 clips and remove the No. 1 oil cooler inlet hose and No. 1 oil cooler outlet hose.

      *1 Inlet No. 1 Oil Cooler Hose
      *2 Outlet No. 1 Oil Cooler Hose
    2. Remove the 3 bolts and transmission oil cooler from the front engine mounting bracket.

  10. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and front engine mounting bracket from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  11. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 wire harness clamp brackets from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 transmission control cable bracket from the automatic transaxle assembly.

  13. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CASE PLUG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the transmission case plug assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the transmission case plug assembly.
  14. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the torque converter assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly.

      NOTE:

      Remove the torque converter assembly from the input shaft horizontally.

  15. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  16. INSPECT DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
