Removal [12/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2013 - 11/2016] , or refer to PRECAUTION [11/2016 - ]

  2. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2013 - 11/2016] , or refer to PRECAUTION [11/2016 - ]

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2013 - 11/2016] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2016 - ]

  4. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

  5. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM EJECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  6. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  7. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  9. REMOVE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (for ACIS)

      Disconnect the union to vacuum tube hose from the vacuum hose clamp.

    2. Disengage the wire harness clamp.
    3. Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses.
    4. Disconnect the vacuum switching valve assembly (for ACIS) connector.
    5. Remove the bolt and vacuum switching valve assembly (for ACIS) from the intake manifold.
  10. DISCONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE 
    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose from the intake manifold.

  11. DISCONNECT UNION TO VACUUM TUBE HOSE 
    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the union to vacuum tube hose from the intake manifold.

  12. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  13. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  14. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  15. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness clamp brackets from the intake manifold.

    2. Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose from the intake manifold.

    3. Disengage the 3 wire harness clamps.
    4. Disconnect the sensor wire connector.
    5. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the intake manifold.
    6. Apply positive (+) battery voltage to terminal 8 (M-) and negative (-) battery voltage to terminal 4 (M+) of the sensor wire connector to close the 4 tumble control valves (TCV).

      NOTE:
      • If this procedure is not performed, the 4 tumble control valves (TCV) may be damaged when the intake manifold is removed.
      • Apply battery voltage for 1 to 3 seconds.
      • If battery voltage is applied for more than 3 seconds, the intake air control valve actuator may be damaged.
      • Do not allow the lead wires to contact the other terminals.
    7. Remove the bolt and disconnect the wire harness.

    8. Disengage the 2 wire harness clamps.
    9. Disconnect the intake air control valve actuator (for TCV) connector.
    10. Remove the 6 bolts and intake manifold.

      NOTE:

      The 4 tumble control valves (TCV) may be damaged if they are not closed before removing the intake manifold.

      HINT: 

      Connect the battery to the terminals of the intake air control valve actuator to operate the motor and close the 4 tumble control valves (TCV).

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

    11. Remove the intake manifold gasket from the intake manifold.

    12. Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the intake manifold and remove the No. 1 check valve.

    13. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the intake manifold.
