Removal [11/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  2. SECURE STEERING WHEEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  4. SEPARATE STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  5. SEPARATE NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  6. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 
  7. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6 , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  8. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the nut and separate the front stabilizer link assembly LH from the front stabilizer bar.

      HINT: 

      Use a hexagon socket wrench to hold the stud.

  9. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  10. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  11. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  12. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  3

  13. SEPARATE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  14. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a jack and a wooden block, support the engine and transaxle assembly.

    2. Remove the bolt and separate the engine moving control rod.

    3. Support the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with an engine lifter using 4 attachments or equivalent tools as shown in the illustration.

      Attachment Placement Location
      NOTE:
      • Make sure to secure the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly to prevent it from dropping.
      • Use the attachments to keep the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly level.
      • The front suspension crossmember sub-assembly is a heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.
    4. Remove the 6 bolts and front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

    5. Slowly lower the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      When lowering the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed on the vehicle.

  15. REMOVE STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH 

    See step  5

  17. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  18. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR 
  19. REMOVE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly LH from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

  20. REMOVE FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  21. REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD COVER (for Cold Area Specification Vehicles) 
    1. Remove the 2 clips and engine moving control rod cover from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.

  22. REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD 
    1. Remove the bolt and engine moving control rod from the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly.
