Removal [06/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE EGR COOLER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2015 - ]

  2. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst) (w/ Exhaust Heat Recirculation System) 
    WARNING:

    Perform this procedure when the coolant is not hot.

    1. Slide the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 heater water hoses.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 compression springs and disconnect the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) and tail exhaust pipe assembly.

    3. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) from the 3 exhaust pipe supports.
    4. Remove the 2 gaskets from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) and exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst).
  3. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst) (w/o Exhaust Heat Recirculation System) 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 compression springs and disconnect the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) from the exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst) and tail exhaust pipe assembly.

    2. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) from the 3 exhaust pipe supports.
    3. Remove the 2 gaskets from the front exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) and exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst).
  4. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator.

  6. REMOVE MANIFOLD SUPPORT BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and manifold support bracket.

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 EGR PIPE 
    1. Remove the bolt, nut and No. 1 EGR pipe.

    2. Remove the gasket.
  8. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD (TWC: Front Catalyst) 
    1. Disconnect the wire harness clamp and oxygen sensor connector.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts, 2 nuts and exhaust manifold (TWC: Front Catalyst).

    3. Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket.
  9. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator.

  10. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2
