Removal [02/2014 - 11/2015]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  2. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR SEAL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  3. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE SEAL RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  4. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. REMOVE INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  6. REMOVE INLET NO. 2 AIR CLEANER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  7. REMOVE NO. 3 INVERTER BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  8. REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  9. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  10. INSTALL INVERTER TERMINAL COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  11. INSTALL NO. 3 INVERTER BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21

  12. INSTALL INLET NO. 2 AIR CLEANER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  13. INSTALL INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  14. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  15. INSTALL RADIATOR SIDE SEAL RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  16. INSTALL RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR SEAL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  17. DISCONNECT BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP CONNECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  18. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 
  19. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (TWC: Rear Catalyst) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]

  20. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  21. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  22. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  23. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  24. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER LH 

    See step  2

  25. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  26. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  27. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  28. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE:

    If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.

  29. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH 
    1. Using a union nut wrench, separate the rear flexible hose LH from the rear No. 4 brake tube while holding the rear flexible hose LH with a wrench.

      *1 Rear No. 4 Brake Tube
      *2 Rear Flexible Hose LH
      Clip
      NOTE:
      • Do not kink or damage the brake line.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake line from the connecting parts.
    2. Remove the clip and separate the rear flexible hose LH.
    3. Remove the bolt and separate the rear flexible hose LH from the rear upper control arm assembly LH.

  30. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  31. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  3

  32. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  33. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR 

    See step  4

  34. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  4

  35. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  36. SEPARATE FRAME WIRE 
    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect each connector, and then disengage each clamp to separate the frame wire from the rear suspension member sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

  37. DISCONNECT NO. 6 FLOOR WIRE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  38. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Separate the rear upper control arm assembly LH.
      1. Support the rear axle assembly LH with a jack using a wooden block as shown in the illustration.

        WARNING:

        Do not jack up the rear axle assembly LH too high as the vehicle may fall.

        NOTE:

        When jacking up the rear axle assembly LH, be sure to jack it up slowly.

      2. Remove the bolt and nut, and separate the rear upper control arm assembly LH from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH.
        NOTE:

        Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

      3. Slowly lower the rear axle assembly LH.
    2. Separate the rear upper control arm assembly RH.

      HINT: 

      Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

    3. Support the rear suspension member sub-assembly with an engine lifter using 2 wooden blocks and 2 attachments or equivalent tools as shown in the illustration.
      WARNING:

      Make sure to secure the rear suspension member sub-assembly to prevent it from dropping.

      NOTE:
      • Use the attachments to keep the rear suspension member sub-assembly level.
      • The rear suspension member sub-assembly is a heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.

    4. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts, 2 rear lower suspension braces, rear lower suspension member stopper LH and rear lower suspension member stopper RH.
    5. Remove the rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly LH.
      1. Support the rear axle assembly LH with a jack using a wooden block as shown in the illustration.
        WARNING:

        Do not jack up the rear axle assembly LH too high as the vehicle may fall.

        NOTE:

        When jacking up the rear axle assembly LH, be sure to jack it up slowly.

      2. Remove the nut (A) and the spacer.
      3. Remove the bolt (B), nut and rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly LH.
        NOTE:

        Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

      4. Slowly lower the rear axle assembly LH.
    6. Remove the rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly RH.

      HINT: 

      Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

    7. Slowly lower the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      When lowering the rear suspension member sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed on the vehicle.

  39. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER UPPER STOPPER 
    1. Remove the 2 rear suspension member upper stoppers from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  40. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER 
    1. Remove the 2 rear suspension member rear upper stoppers from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  41. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and rear speed sensor LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  42. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  43. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  4

  44. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  45. REMOVE REAR TRACTION MOTOR WITH TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]

  46. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION 
    1. Using SST, remove the differential mount cushion from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      • SST: 09570-48010 
      NOTE:
      • Apply grease to the threads of the SST center bolt before use.
      • Install the SST bolts straight and tighten them equally.

      *a Front of the Vehicle
  47. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion rib.
      NOTE:

      Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.

    2. Install SST as shown in the illustration.

      NOTE:

      Apply grease to the threads of the SST center bolt before use.

    3. Using SST, remove the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion while applying grease into the clearance between the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Set the claws of SST onto the rear suspension member sub-assembly securely as shown in the illustration.
      • Be careful as the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion may fly out.
      • The rear suspension member front body mounting cushion cannot be reused.

    4. Remove SST and the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
  48. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  49. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION LH 
    1. Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion LH rib.

      NOTE:

      Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.

    2. Install SST as shown in the illustration.

    3. Using SST, remove the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion LH while applying grease into the clearance between the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion LH and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

      NOTE:

    4. Remove SST and the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
  50. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNTING CUSHION RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  51. REMOVE HOLE PLUG 
    1. Remove the 12 hole plugs from the rear suspension member sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
