Removal [02/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [02/2014 - 11/2016] , or refer to PRECAUTION [11/2016 - ]

    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [02/2014 - 11/2016] , or refer to PRECAUTION [11/2016 - ]

  2. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2015] , or refer to REMOVAL [11/2015 - 11/2016] , or refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [02/2014 - 11/2016] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2016 - ]

  4. DISCONNECT SLIDING ROOF DRAIN HOSE (for Sliding Roof) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOF SIDE AIR DUCT (for Normal Roof)

    1. Remove the 2 clips (A).
    2. Disengage the clip (B) and remove the No. 1 roof side air duct.
  6. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOF SIDE AIR DUCT (for Sliding Roof) 
    1. Remove the clip (A).

    2. Disengage the clip (B) and remove the No. 1 roof side air duct.
  7. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOF SIDE AIR DUCT (for Panoramic Moon Roof)

    1. Remove the clip (A).
    2. Disengage the clip (B) and remove the No. 1 roof side air duct.
  8. REMOVE CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    When storing the curtain shield airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    NOTE:

    When removing the curtain shield airbag assembly, have assistants hold it to prevent it from bending.

    1. Check that the power switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    4. Disengage the 3 clamps to disconnect the airbag wire harness.

    5. Using needle nose pliers, remove the 9 pins from the 9 clips.
      NOTE:

      Do not damage the pins.

    6. Using 2 screwdrivers, disengage the 2 claws of each clip and separate the 9 clips from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      Remove the 9 clips and curtain shield airbag assembly from the vehicle body as a unit.

    7. While holding the curtain shield airbag assembly, remove the 5 bolts and disengage the 2 clips.
    8. Disengage the 2 hooks to remove the curtain shield airbag assembly.
    9. Remove the 9 clips and 2 spacers from the curtain shield airbag assembly.
