Removal [08/2013 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  2. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID 
    1. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the drain plug and gasket from the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
    2. Drain automatic transaxle fluid from the automatic transaxle assembly.
    3. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the drain plug and a new gasket to the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.

      Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf) 

  3. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 19 bolts and automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly from the transaxle case.

      NOTE:

      Some fluid will remain in the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly. Remove all the bolts and carefully remove the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the automatic transaxle oil pan gasket from the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
    3. Remove the 2 transmission oil cleaner magnets from the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.

    4. Examine the particles in the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.

      1. Collect any steel chips with the removed transmission oil cleaner magnets. Look carefully at the chips and particles in the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly and on the transmission oil cleaner magnets to see the type of wear which might be found in the automatic transaxle assembly.

        Result

        Steel (magnetic) 

        Bearing, gear and plate wear

        Brass (non-magnetic) 

        Bushing wear

  4. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and valve body oil strainer assembly from the transmission valve body assembly.

      NOTE:

      Perform the operation carefully as some fluid will come out from the valve body oil strainer assembly.

    2. Remove the oil strainer gasket from the valve body oil strainer assembly.

  5. REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the shift solenoid valve S1 connector.

      *1 Temperature Sensor Clamp
      *a Bolt
      *b ATF Temperature Sensor
      *c Shift Solenoid Valve S1 Connector
      *d Shift Solenoid Valve S2 Connector
      *e Shift Solenoid Valve SLU Connector
      *f Shift Solenoid Valve ST Connector
      *g Shift Solenoid Valve SLT Connector
    2. Disconnect the shift solenoid valve S2 connector.
    3. Disconnect the shift solenoid valve SLU connector.
    4. Disconnect the shift solenoid valve ST connector.
    5. Disconnect the shift solenoid valve SLT connector.
    6. Remove the bolt, temperature sensor clamp and ATF temperature sensor from the transmission valve body assembly.
    7. Remove the 2 bolts, manual detent spring cover and manual detent spring sub-assembly from the transmission valve body assembly.

    8. Remove the 13 bolts and transmission valve body assembly from the transaxle case.

      NOTE:

      Do not drop the check ball body, check ball body compression spring, B-2 accumulator piston, C-2 accumulator piston or C-3 accumulator piston.

    9. Remove the check ball body and check ball body compression spring from the transaxle case.

  6. REMOVE TRANSAXLE CASE GASKET 

    See step  13

  7. REMOVE TRANSAXLE CASE 2ND BRAKE GASKET 

    See step  14

  8. REMOVE BRAKE DRUM GASKET 

    See step  15

  9. REMOVE MANUAL VALVE 
    1. Remove the manual valve from the transmission valve body assembly.
