DTC P3107-214: Lost Communication with Airbag System Control Module [10/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SRS AIRBAG) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output. A
      Airbag system DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    GO TO DTC CHART (AIRBAG SYSTEM) 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

  2. CHECK AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM)

  3. CLEAR DTC 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

    NEXT

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P3107-214 is not output. A
      P3107-214 is output again. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    (Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [10/2014 - ] )

    OK 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  6. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

    NG 

    CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK

  7. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the airbag ECU assembly connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

    NG

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (+B SHORT) 
    1. Remove the PM IGCT fuse from the No. 2 engine room relay block.

      *2 PM IGCT Fuse
    2. Remove the AM2 fuse from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.

      *2 AM2 Fuse
    3. Remove the ECU-IG2 NO. 1 fuse from the instrument panel junction block assembly.
    4. Disconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      D104-29 (ABFS) - A53-2 (+B2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - A54-5 (+B1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - D104-1 (AM22) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - D105-7 (AM21) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - A54-6 (MREL) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - A54-1 (IG2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - D105-1 (ACCD) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - D105-2 (IG1D) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - A54-2 (IG2D) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - D104-14 (SPDI) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - A53-16 (GI) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    6. Reconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.
    7. Install the PM IGCT fuse, AM2 fuse and ECU-IG2 NO. 1 fuse.

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D104 power management control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      (to Airbag ECU Assembly)

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D104-29 (ABFS) - D36-14 (GSW2) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D104-29 (ABFS) or D36-14 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT: 

      As necessary, check that there are no wires shorted to power supply when performing the above wire harness inspection.

    4. Reconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the D104 power management control ECU connector.

    NG

  10. CHECK POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 
    1. Disconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      (Power Management Control ECU)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D104-29 (ABFS) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the airbag ECU assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Reconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - ] )

    NG 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY WIRES) 
    1. Remove the PM IGCT fuse from the No. 2 engine room relay block.

      *2 PM IGCT Fuse
    2. Remove the AM2 fuse from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.

    3. Remove the ECU-IG2 NO. 1 fuse from the instrument panel junction block assembly.
    4. Disconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.

    5. Disconnect the A53, A54, D104 and D105 power management control ECU connectors.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      D104-29 (ABFS) - D105-7 (AM21) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D104-29 (ABFS) - A54-6 (MREL) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    7. Reconnect the A53, A54, D104 and D105 power management control ECU connectors.
    8. Reconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.
    9. Install the PM IGCT fuse, AM2 fuse and ECU-IG2 NO. 1 fuse.

    OK 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
