DTC P3107-214: Airbag ECU Communication Circuit Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM) See step   2 

    B → See step   5 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CLEAR DTC See step   3 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P3107-214 is not output. A
      DTC P3107-214 is output again. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK → See step   9 

  5. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR). Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 3 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connections of the center airbag sensor assembly connectors.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Center Airbag Sensor Assembly)

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D72 connector from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    2. Disconnect the D30 connector from the center airbag sensor assembly.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Center Airbag Sensor Assembly)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D72-29 (ABFS) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON with the hybrid vehicle control ECU and center airbag sensor assembly connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D72-29 (ABFS) - D30-14 (GSW2) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D72-29 (ABFS) or D30-14 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    7. Connect the center airbag sensor assembly connector.
    8. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Disconnect the D30 connector from the center airbag sensor assembly.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D72-29 (ABFS) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch to ON with the center airbag sensor assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Connect the center airbag sensor assembly connector.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK → See step   10 

  9. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  10. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
