DTC P3004-132: Power Cable Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P3004-132 only is output. A
      Any of the following DTCs are also output. B

      HINT: 

      • *1: If any INF codes are output for this DTC, refer to the corresponding diagnostic procedure.
      • P3004-132 may be output due to a malfunction which causes the DTCs in the table above to be output. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the table above. Then, perform a reproduction test to check that no DTCs are output.
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   16 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      P3004-132 may be output due to a malfunction which causes the DTCs in the table above to be output. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the table above. Then, perform a reproduction test to check that no DTCs are output.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   23 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read the freeze frame data of DTC P3004-132.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All of the following conditions are met:
      • Difference between HV battery voltage (Power Resource VB) and pre-boost voltage (VL-Voltage before Boosting) is 40 V or less.
      • Difference between HV battery voltage (Power Resource VB) and post-boost voltage (VH-Voltage after Boosting) is more than 40 V.
      • Difference between pre-boost voltage (VL-Voltage before Boosting) and post-boost voltage (VH-Voltage after Boosting) is more than 50 V.
      A
      In addition to the above conditions, HV battery current (Batt Pack Current Val) is 3 A or more. B
      Other than above C
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

  4. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR). Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 3 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK NO. 3 WIRE FRAME (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY SIDE) See step   5 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK NO. 3 WIRE FRAME (HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK SIDE) See step   6 

    B → REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS 

    C → CONNECT SECURELY 

    A: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK NO. 3 WIRE FRAME (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER - HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK) See step   7 

    NG → See step   19 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK CONDITION OF MAIN BATTERY CABLE CONNECTION(S) See step   8 

    B → REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS 

    C → CONNECT SECURELY 

    A: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HV BATTERY See step   9 

    NG → See step   20 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK) See step   10 

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (SMRB) See step   11 

    NG → See step   21 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (SMRP) See step   12 

    NG → See step   21 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  14. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    5. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
    6. Turn the ignition switch off.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P3004-131 is output. A
      DTC P3004-132 is output. B
      No DTCs are output. C
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    A → See step   22 

    B → See step   17 

    C → See step   17 

  16. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  17. REPLACE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  18. GO TO DTC CHART (P3004-800). Refer to  DTC P3004-800: Power Cable Malfunction; DTC P3004-801: Power Cable Malfunction  
  19. REPLACE NO. 3 WIRE FRAME. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  20. REPLACE HV BATTERY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  21. REPLACE HYBRID BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  22. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DTC P3004-131: Power Cable Malfunction  
  23. GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
