Rear Suspension Member: Removal: Removal

  1. PRECAUTION 

    Refer to PRECAUTION

  2. READ OUTPUT DTC  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 2
  3. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 1
  4. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 2
  5. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected, refer to INITIALIZATION .

  6. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
  7. REMOVE RECLINING HINGE COVER LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7
  8. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 8
  9. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 1
  10. REMOVE INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7
  11. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR CLEANER INLET  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 8
  12. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 27
  13. REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL COVER  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 12
  14. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 13
  15. INSTALL INVERTER TERMINAL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 14
  16. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 92
  17. INSTALL NO. 2 AIR CLEANER INLET  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 6
  18. INSTALL INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
  19. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
  20. REMOVE REAR WHEELS 
  21. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT  . Refer to REPLACEMENT - Step 3
  22. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 2
  23. REMOVE HEATER COVER  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
  24. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
  25. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY  See step  2
  26. SEPARATE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  27. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  28. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  29. REMOVE REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY LH  See step  3
  30. REMOVE REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  31. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  See step  8
  32. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  33. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  See step  9
  34. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  35. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Put matchmarks on the rear drive shaft assembly and axle hub.

      NOTE:

      Do not punch the marks.

    2. Put matchmarks on the rear drive shaft assembly and differential side gear shaft.

    3. Remove the 4 nuts, washers and separate the rear drive shaft assembly from the differential side gear shaft LH.
    4. Separate the rear drive shaft assembly LH from the rear axle hub LH.
    5. Remove the rear drive shaft assembly LH
  36. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  37. DISCONNECT NO. 3 WIRE FRAME  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 28
  38. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER 
    1. Support the rear suspension member with a jack.

    2. Remove the 4 nuts, 2 bolts and 2 rear lower suspension member stopper retainers.

    3. Lower the rear suspension member.
    4. Remove the 2 rear upper suspension member stoppers.
  39. REMOVE REAR TRACTION WITH TRANSAXLE MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 upper supports, rear traction with transaxle motor assembly, and lower stoppers.

  40. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION 
    1. Install SST to rear suspension member as shown in the illustration.

      • SST: 09570-24011 
      NOTE:

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads of SST (bolt) before use.

    2. While tapping the area around the tip of arrow (A) in the illustration using a hammer, use SST to push the differential mount cushion outward as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      Tapping the area around the tip of arrow (A) in the illustration makes it easier to remove the differential mount cushion.

    3. Install additional SST as shown in the illustration.

    4. While tapping the area around the tip of arrow (A) in the illustration using a hammer, use SST to remove the differential mount cushion.

      HINT: 

      Tapping the area around the tip of arrow (A) in the illustration makes it easier to remove the differential mount cushion.

  41. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BODY MOUNTING FRONT CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Using SST, remove the rear suspension member body mounting front cushion.

      NOTE:
      • Set the tips of the claws in the cutouts of the body mounting cushion.
      • Securely install the spacer No. 1 to the inner cylinder of the body mounting cushion as shown in the illustration.
      • Apply a small amount of grease to the threads of SST (center bolt) before use.
      • Tighten SST slowly and evenly.
      • Be careful as the body mounting cushion may fly out.
      • The body mounting cushion cannot be reused.
  42. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BODY MOUNTING FRONT CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  43. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BODY MOUNTING REAR CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Using SST, temporarily remove the rear suspension member body mounting rear cushion.

      NOTE:
      • Set the tips of the claws in the cutouts of the body mounting cushion.
      • Securely install the spacer No. 1 to the inner cylinder of the body mounting cushion as shown in the illustration.
      • Apply a small amount of grease to the threads of SST (center bolt) before use.
      • Tighten SST slowly and evenly.
      • Be careful as the body mounting cushion may fly out.
      • The body mounting cushion cannot be reused.
    2. When the mounting cushion protrudes approximately 6 mm, reassemble SST as shown in the illustration and remove the mounting cushion.

      NOTE:
      • Set the tips of the claws in the cutouts of the body mounting cushion.
      • Securely install the spacer No. 1 to the inner cylinder of the body mounting cushion as shown in the illustration.

      • Tighten SST slowly and evenly.
      • Be careful as the body mounting cushion may fly out.
      • The body mounting cushion cannot be reused.

      HINT: 

      Use the shorter center bolt first, then change it to the longer center bolt.

  44. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BODY MOUNTING REAR CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  45. REMOVE HOLE PLUG 
    1. Remove the 2 hole plugs.
  46. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 BODY MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and rear No. 2 body mounting bracket sub-assembly LH.

  47. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 BODY MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and rear No. 2 body mounting bracket sub-assembly RH.

  48. REMOVE STUD BOLT (for LH Side) 
    1. Remove the stud bolt.

  49. REMOVE STUD BOLT (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
