Rear Suspension Member: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL STUD BOLT (for LH Side) 
    1. Using SST and a socket wrench (21 mm), install the stud bolt.

      • SST: 09817-33190 

      Torque: 180 N*m (1840 kgf*cm, 133 ft.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL STUD BOLT (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  3. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 2 BODY MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Temporarily install the rear No. 2 body mounting bracket sub-assembly LH with the 2 bolts (A) and bolt (B).

      NOTE:

      Two types of bolts are used. Install each bolt to the correct position.

  4. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 2 BODY MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Temporarily install the rear No. 2 body mounting bracket sub-assembly RH with the 2 bolts (A) and bolt (B).

      NOTE:

      Two types of bolts are used. Install each bolt to the correct position.

  5. INSTALL HOLE PLUG 
    1. Install the 2 hole plugs.
  6. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION 
    1. Temporarily install a new differential mount cushion front cushion while confirming the installation direction.

      0° +/- 3°

      NOTE:

      Make sure that the differential mount cushion is installed in the correct direction.

    2. Install SST to rear suspension member as shown in the illustration.

      • SST: 09570-24011 
      NOTE:

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads of SST (bolt) before use.

    3. While tapping the area around the tip of arrow (A) in the illustration using a hammer, use SST to install the differential mount cushion.

      2.3 +/- 0.5 mm (0.090 +/- 0.019 in.)

      HINT: 

      Tapping the area around the tip of arrow (A) in the illustration makes it easier to install the differential mount cushion.

  7. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BODY MOUNTING FRONT CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Temporarily install a new rear suspension member body mounting front cushion while confirming the installation direction.

    2. Using SST, install the rear suspension member body mounting front cushion until there is no clearance between the suspension member sub- assembly and the rear suspension member body mounting front cushion.

      • SST: 09830-10010 
        • 09830-01010
        • 09830-01020
        • 09830-01030
        • 09830-01060
      NOTE:
      • Tighten SST slowly and evenly.
      • Apply a small amount of grease to the threads of SST (center bolt) before use.
      • Use SST with the "F" mark facing the body mounting cushion.
  8. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BODY MOUNTING FRONT CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  9. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BODY MOUNTING REAR CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Temporarily install a new rear suspension member body mounting rear cushion while confirming the installation direction.

    2. Using SST, install the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion until there is no clearance between the suspension member sub-assembly and the rear suspension member body mounting rear cushion.

      • SST: 09830-36010 
      • SST: 09515-21010 
      NOTE:
      • Tighten SST slowly and evenly.
      • Apply a small amount of grease to the threads of SST (center bolt) before use.
  10. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BODY MOUNTING REAR CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  11. INSTALL REAR TRACTION WITH TRANSAXLE MOTOR ASSEMBLY

    1. Temporarily install the rear traction with transaxle motor assembly (front side) with the 2 lower stoppers, 2 upper supports, and 2 new bolts (A) as shown in the illustration.
    2. Temporarily install the rear traction with transaxle motor assembly (rear side) with the 2 new bolts (B).
    3. Fully tighten the 2 bolts (A).

      Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

    4. Fully tighten the 2 bolts (B).

      Torque: 95 N*m (970 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf) 

  12. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER 
    1. Raise the rear suspension member with a jack.

      HINT: 

      Support the rear suspension member until retightening of the suspension member is complete.

    2. Temporarily install the rear suspension member, the 2 rear upper suspension member stoppers and rear lower suspension member stopper retainers with the 4 nuts and the 2 bolts.

    3. Fully tighten the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 115 N*m (1170 kgf*cm, 85 ft.*lbf) 

  13. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 BODY MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Lightly shake the rear suspension member to settle the body mounting cushion in the rear No. 2 body mounting bracket sub-assembly.
    2. Fully tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 90 N*m (920 kgf*cm, 66 ft.*lbf) 

  14. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 BODY MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Lightly shake the rear suspension member to settle the body mounting cushion in the rear No. 2 body mounting bracket sub-assembly.
    2. Fully tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 90 N*m (920 kgf*cm, 66 ft.*lbf) 

  15. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER 
    1. Using SST and a socket wrench (19 mm), fully tighten the nut (LH side).

      without SST 

      Torque: 181 N*m (1850 kgf*cm, 133 ft.*lbf) 

      with SST 

      Torque: 134 N*m (1366 kgf*cm, 98 ft.*lbf) 

      • SST: 09961-00950 
      NOTE:
      • Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 425 mm (16.73 in.).
      • This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench.
    2. Using SST and a socket wrench (19 mm), fully tighten the nut (RH side).

      without SST 

      Torque: 181 N*m (1850 kgf*cm, 133 ft.*lbf) 

      with SST 

      Torque: 134 N*m (1366 kgf*cm, 98 ft.*lbf) 

      • SST: 09961-00950 
      NOTE:
      • Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 425 mm (16.73 in.).
      • This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench.
  16. INSTALL NO. 3 WIRE FRAME  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
  17. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the rear drive shaft assembly LH and rear axle hub LH.

    2. Insert the rear drive shaft assembly to the rear axle hub LH.
    3. Align the matchmarks on the rear drive shaft assembly LH and the differential side gear shaft LH.

    4. Install the rear drive shaft assembly with the 4 nuts and washers.

      Torque: 56 N*m (571 kgf*cm, 41 ft.*lbf) 

  18. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  19. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  See step  1
  20. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  21. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  See step  2
  22. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  23. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY LH  See step  1
  24. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  25. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 13
  26. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  27. STABILIZE SUSPENSION  See step  4
  28. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  See step  5
  29. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  30. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH  See step  6
  31. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  32. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY LH  See step  3
  33. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the LH side.

  34. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY  See step  4
  35. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  36. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 5
  37. INSTALL HEATER COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 5
  38. INSTALL TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 8
  39. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected, refer to INITIALIZATION .

  40. CHECK HIGH VOLTAGE CABLE CONNECTION  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 14
  41. INSTALL SERVICE PLUG GRIP  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  42. INSTALL RECLINING HINGE COVER LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  43. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
  44. INSTALL BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 119
  45. INSTALL DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 120
  46. ADD ENGINE COOLANT  . Refer to REPLACEMENT - Step 4
  47. INSPECT FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAK  . Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1
  48. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 17
  49. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4

  50. INSTALL REAR WHEELS 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

  51. INSPECT REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT 

    Refer to ADJUSTMENT
