DTC P2519-766: A/C Request "A" Circuit: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      DTC P0AE6-225 is also output.

    YES → See step   9 

    NO: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK BATTERY SMART UNIT 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off and remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION .

      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Connect an oscilloscope between the battery smart unit terminals specified in the table below, and measure the waveform.
      Item Contents
      Terminal IDH (n2-4) - GND (n2-5)
      Equipment Setting 2 V/DIV, 2 ms./DIV
      Condition Power switch on (IG)

      Result

      The waveform appears as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      • For the removal and installation procedures related to inspection of the waveform of the battery smart unit. Refer to REMOVAL .
      • The frequency of the waveform differs (100 to 900 kHz, 8 to 14 V) depending on operation conditions of the cooling fan of the hybrid vehicle converter (DC/DC converter).

    OK → See step   7 

    NG: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER CONNECTOR). Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 6 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
    3. Disconnect the n4 hybrid vehicle converter (DC/DC converter) connector. Refer to REMOVAL .
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      IDH (n4-5) - Body ground 4.5 to 5.5 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle converter (DC/DC converter) connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    OK → See step   8 

    NG: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (BATTERY SMART UNIT CONNECTOR) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.

    2. Check the connection of the battery smart unit connector.

      OK

      The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY SMART UNIT - HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
    3. Disconnect the n2 battery smart unit connector. Refer to REMOVAL
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      IDH (n2-4) - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle converter (DC/DC converter) connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      IDH (n2-4) - IDH (n4-5) Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      IDH (n2-4) or IDH (n4-5) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   7 

  7. REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONVERTER. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. GO TO INSPECTION PROCEDURE RELEVANT TO OUTPUT DTC. Refer to  DTC P0AE6-225: Hybrid Battery Precharge Contactor Control Circuit Low
