EPS Warning Light Circuit: Procedure

- CHECK CONNECT CONNECTOR OR INSTALL GROUND WIRE
- Check the connection condition of the electric power steering column sub-assembly and power steering ECU assembly connectors.
OK
The electric power steering column sub-assembly and power steering ECU assembly connectors are securely connected.
- Check that the ground wire is securely installed with the bolt. Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3

The ground wire is securely installed with the bolt.
NG → See step 11
OK: Go to next step
- Check the connection condition of the electric power steering column sub-assembly and power steering ECU assembly connectors.
- CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
- Check for DTCs. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM

DTC is not output.

OK: Go to next step
- Check for DTCs. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM

- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Data List.
- Select the item "IG power supply" in the Data List and read the value displayed on the Techstream.EMPS

- CHECK WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - ECU WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY)
- Disconnect the Ij2 connector from the ECU wire sub-assembly.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the j2 connector from the power steering ECU assembly.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- CHECK ECU WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the j1 connector from the power steering ECU assembly.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
- Perform the Active Test of the combination meter assembly using the Techstream.COMBINATION METER
Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Indicat. EPS EPS warning light OFF or ON Confirm that the vehicle is stopped with the engine idling - Check that the EPS warning light operates in accordance with the Active Test.
HINT:
Reconnect the connectors and restore the vehicle to its previous condition before checking the combination meter assembly.

- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL
- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
- CONNECT CONNECTOR OR INSTALL GROUND WIRE. Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPAIR OR REPLACE ECU WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to DISASSEMBLY - Step 7
