Transmission Control Cable Assembly: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL  (See REMOVAL  )
  2. REMOVE BATTERY  (See REASSEMBLY )
  3. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  (See SYSTEM DIAGRAM )
  4. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR CLEANER INLET  (See SYSTEM DIAGRAM )
  5. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  9. REMOVE AIR CLEANER BRACKET  (See REASSEMBLY )
  10. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT 

    HINT:

    (See REMOVAL )

  11. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the nut from the control shaft lever.
    2. Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.

    3. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control cable bracket.

    4. Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the No. 2 transmission control cable bracket.

    5. Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the vehicle.

    6. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the cable end from the shift lever assembly.

    7. Turn the nut and disconnect the control cable from the shift lever retainer.
