Spiral Cable: Removal

  1. PRECAUTION 
    CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing (See AIRBAG SYSTEM ).
  2. POSITION FRONT WHEELS STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  8. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.
      NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    2. Disengage the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.

  10. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE 
    1. Disengage the 6 claws and 2 pins, and remove the spiral cable from the steering angle sensor.
