On-Vehicle Inspection

- INSPECT ENGINE OIL LEVEL
- Warm up and stop the engine, then wait for 5 minutes.
- Check that the oil level is between the low level and full level marks on the level dipstick.
If the level is low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.
NOTE: Do not fill the engine with oil to above the full level mark.
- INSPECT ENGINE OIL QUALITY
- Check the oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloration or thinning. If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil and filter.
- INSPECT OIL PRESSURE
- Remove the oil pressure switch assembly (See OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ).
- Install an oil pressure gauge.
- Warm up the engine.
- Measure the oil pressure.
Standard Oil Pressure
STANDARD OIL PRESSURECondition Specified Condition Idle 30 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2 , 4.4 psi) or more 4000 rpm 260 kPa (2.7 kgf/cm2 , 38 psi) or more - Remove the oil pressure gauge.
- Install the oil pressure switch assembly (See INSTALLATION ).
