Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P2119)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine/Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the DTCs.

      DTC P2119 is output A
DTC P2119 and other DTCs are output B

      HINT:

If any DTCs other than P2119 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

      B:  GO TO DTC CHART

  2. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY (RESISTANCE OF THROTTLE ACTUATOR)
    1. Disconnect the throttle body connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    1. Replace the ECM (See REMOVAL ).
  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2119)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
    7. Start the engine.
    8. Allow the engine to idle for 15 seconds or more.
    9. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal several times quickly.
    10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine/Trouble Codes.
    11. Read the DTCs.

      HINT:

The output voltage of the throttle position sensor can be checked using the Techstream. Variations in the output voltage indicate that the throttle actuator is in operation. To check the output voltage using the Techstream, enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine/ETCS/Throttle Position No. 1 and Throttle Position No. 2.

B: REPLACE THROTTLE BODY  (See REMOVAL )
