PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for Rear Disc Brake): Removal

CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (See AIRBAG SYSTEM ).

HINT:

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (w/ Front Seat Side Airbag) 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
  2. REMOVE REAR WHEELS 
  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Manual Seat) 

    HINT:

    Refer to the instructions for Removal of the front seat assembly (See REMOVAL ).

  4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Power Seat) 

    HINT:

    Refer to the instructions for Removal of the front seat assembly (See REMOVAL ).

  5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Perform the same procedure for the LH side.

  6. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 

    HINT:

    Refer to the instructions for Removal of the front console box (See REMOVAL ).

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 BELT ANCHOR REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE NO. 3 BELT ANCHOR REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER  (See REMOVAL )
  12. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE END STOPPER  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE)  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE)  (See REMOVAL )
  16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and front No. 1 floor heat insulator.

  17. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and front No. 2 floor heat insulator.

  18. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR 
    1. Remove the parking brake lever protector from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  19. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the clamp from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
    2. Remove the bolt.

    3. Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

    4. Remove the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

      HINT:

      Insert an offset wrench (14 mm) at the base of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly as shown in the illustration to disengage the clip. Pull out the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

    5. Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable clamp.

    6. Remove the bolt and pull out the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the outside of the body.

    7. Remove the 2 bolts and the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  20. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE CLAMP 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws to remove the No. 3 parking brake cable clamp from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
