Brake Booster: Removal

  1. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 
    • Remove the windshield wiper motor and link assembly. REMOVAL .
  2. REMOVE COWL VENTILATOR HOUSING SUB-ASSEMBLY

    • Disengage the 4 clips and remove the cowl ventilator housing sub-assembly.
  3. REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL OUTER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    • Disconnect the connector.
    • Remove the 14 bolts and cowl top panel outer sub-assembly.
  4. REMOVE COWL BODY MOUNTING REINFORCEMENT LH

    • Remove the 2 nuts and cowl body mounting reinforcement LH.
  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE) 
    1. Remove the air cleaner case (see REMOVAL ).

      HINT:

      Refer to the procedures from the removal of the purge VSV up until the removal of the air cleaner case.

  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE (for 2GR-FE) 
    1. Remove the air cleaner case (see appropriate step(s) under REMOVAL ).

      HINT:

      Refer to the procedures from the removal of the air cleaner cap sub-assembly up until the removal of the air cleaner case.

  7. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE: Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.
  8. DISCONNECT BRAKE LINES (see appropriate step(s) under  REMOVAL  ) 
  9. REMOVE ABS AND TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (see appropriate step(s) under  REMOVAL  ) 
  10. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY (see appropriate step(s) under  REMOVAL  ) 
  11. DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSE 
  12. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN 
    1. Remove the clip from the push rod pin.
    2. Remove the push rod pin from the push rod clevis.
  13. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS 
    1. Loosen the push rod clevis lock nut.
    2. Remove the push rod clevis.
  14. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 nuts.
    2. Pull out the booster with gasket.

  15. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET 
  16. REMOVE BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY 
  17. REMOVE CHECK VALVE GROMMET
