Inspection Procedure

CHECK FOR DTC
1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
2. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
  HINT:
  
  First clear DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU and then in the center airbag sensor.
3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
5. Check the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
  OK: DTC B1797 is output.
  
  HINT:
  
  DTCs other than B1797 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
NO: END

YES: GO TO NEXT STEP

READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (SPECIFIED CONDITION FOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION)

Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch ON.

Using the intelligent tester, read the DATA LIST (see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE ).

CHECK FOR DTC
HINT:

Check that the zero point calibration is completed normally. If either of the following occurs, DTC B1797 will be output (Refer to INITIALIZATION ).
- Zero point calibration is performed when the calibration conditions are not satisfied.
- Zero point calibration has failed.
1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
2. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
  HINT:
  
  First clear DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU and then in the center airbag sensor.
3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON.
5. Check the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
  OK: DTC B1797 is not output.
PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION
1. Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Using the intelligent tester, perform the zero point calibration (see INITIALIZATION ).
4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Turn the ignition switch ON.
6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
  HINT:
  
  If DTCs are not cleared at this time, past DTCs will remain.
CHECK FOR DTC
1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
2. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
  HINT:
  
  First clear DTCs stored in the occupant classification
  
  ECU and then in the center airbag sensor.
3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON.
5. Check the DTCs (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
  OK: DTC B1797 is not output.
  
  HINT:
  
  DTCs other than B1797 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
END
REPLACE FRONT SEAT CUSHION (WITH OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR AND ECU)
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
3. Replace the front seat cushion (with occupant classification sensor and ECU) (see REMOVAL ).
4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
5. Turn the ignition switch ON.
6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
  HINT:
  
  First clear DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU and then in the center airbag sensor.
7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
8. Turn the ignition switch ON.
9. Using the intelligent tester, check the DTCs of the occupant classification ECU (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
  OK: DTC is not output.
