Inspection Procedure
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using a Techstream. Freeze frame data record the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data, from the time the malfunction occurred.
- CHECK DTC (OPERATE OCV)
- Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester ON.
- Clear DTCs after recording the freeze frame data and DTCs.
- Start the engine.
- Allow the engine to idle and check for DTCs.
- Check that P0010 is present.
OK:
P0010 is present.
NG: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS (See CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS )
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the C24 OCV connector.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals of the OCV.
Standard resistance:
6.9 to 7.9 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
- Reconnect the OCV connector.

- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OCV - ECM)
- Disconnect the C24 OCV connector.
- Disconnect the C20 ECM connector.
- Check the resistance.
Standard resistance (check for open)
