Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Toyota RAV4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    2. Clear the DTCs (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
    3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    4. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Check the DTCs (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

    OK: DTC B1655/37 is not output. 

    HINT:

    DTCs other than DTC B1655/37 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

    NG: GO to Next Step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the front seat inner belt LH.

    OK: The connectors are properly connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO to Next Step 

  3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the front seat inner belt LH.
    2. Using a service wire, connect K1-10 (DBE+) and K1-18 (DBE-) of connector B.
      NOTE: Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K4-4 (LBE+) - K4-3 (LBE-) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE

    OK: GO to Next Step 

  4. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT) 
    1. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Taster Connection Specified Condition
      K4-4 (LBE+) - K4-3 (LBE-) 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE

    OK: GO to Next Step 

  5. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (TO B+) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K4-4 (LBE+) - Body ground Below 1 V
      K4-3 (LBE-) - Body ground Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE

    OK: GO to Next Step 

  6. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (TO GROUND) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K4-4 (LBE+) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher
      K4-3 (LBE-) - Body ground 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE

    OK: GO to Next Step 

  7. CHECK FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor and the front seat inner belt LH.
    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    6. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check the DTCs (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

    OK: DTC B1655/37 is not output. 

    HINT:

    DTCs other than DTC B1655/37 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    OK: USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

    NG: GO to Next Step 

  8. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. (to) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Replace the front seat inner belt LH (See REMOVAL ).

      HINT:

      Perform the Inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible.

  9. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Clear the DTCs (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
    4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    5. Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Check the DTCs (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

    OK: DTC B1655/37 is not output. 

    HINT:

    DTCs other than DTC B1655/37 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    NG: REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
