Exhaust Pipe And Catalytic Converter: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Sensor 2) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  3. REMOVE TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.
    2. Disconnect the 2 exhaust pipe supports and remove the tailpipe.
    3. Remove the gasket from the center exhaust pipe.

  4. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
    2. Disconnect the 3 exhaust pipe supports and remove the center exhaust pipe.
    3. Remove the 2 gaskets.

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 front exhaust pipe support bracket.
  6. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and front exhaust pipe.
    2. Remove the gasket from the exhaust manifold.
