Parking Brake Cable: Removal

HINT:

For parking brake cable assembly No. 2, perform the same procedure to the parking brake cable assembly No. 3.

  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 
  2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE: Wash brake fluid off immediately if it adheres to any painted surface.
  3. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT SET LH (for TMC Made)  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  4. REMOVE FRONT BRAKE SHOE (for TMC Made)  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT SET LH (for TMC Made) 
  6. REMOVE AUTOMATIC ADJUST LEVER LH (for TMC Made)  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  7. REMOVE REAR BRAKE SHOE (for TMC Made)  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  8. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY (for TMMC Made)  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  9. REMOVE REAR BRAKE AUTOMATIC ADJUST LEVER LH (for TMMC Made)  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  10. REMOVE FRONT BRAKE SHOE (for TMMC Made)  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT SET LH (for TMMC Made) 
  12. REMOVE REAR BRAKE SHOE (for TMMC Made)  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  13. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 3 
    1. Remove the bolt, and disconnect the parking brake cable assembly No. 3 from the backing plate.

  14. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY FRONT  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 1 
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and front floor heat insulator No. 1.

  16. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 2 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and front floor heat insulator No. 2.

  17. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 1 
    1. Disconnect the parking brake cable assembly No. 1 from the equalizer and remove the parking brake cable assembly No. 1.
  18. REMOVE FUEL TANK PROTECTOR NO. 1 
    1. Remove the 5 nuts and fuel tank protector No. 1.
  19. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 3 
    1. Using a clip remover, disconnect the skid control sensor wire harness clip from the clamp.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts and cable retainer from the body.
    3. Disconnect the parking brake cable assembly No. 3 from the equalizer, and remove the parking brake cable assembly No. 3.
