On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING 
    1. Remove the front wheel.
    2. Separate the front disc brake caliper assy (See REPLACEMENT ).
    3. Remove the front disc.
    4. Inspect the bearing looseness.
      1. Set a dial indicator near the center of the axle hub and check the looseness in the bearing shaft direction.

        Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) 

      If the looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the front axle hub bearing.

    5. Inspect the axle hub runout.
      1. Using a dial indicator, check the runout at the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.

        Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) 

      If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the front axle hub sub-assy.

    6. Install the front disc.

    7. Install the front disc brake caliper assy (See REPLACEMENT ).
    8. Install the front wheel.

      Torque: 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf) 

  2. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING 
    1. Remove the rear wheel.
    2. Remove rear brake drum sub-assy (Rear brake drum type).
    3. Separate the rear disc brake caliper assy (Rear disc brake type) (See REPLACEMENT ).
    4. Remove the rear disc (Rear disc brake type).
    5. Inspect the bearing looseness.
      1. Set a dial indicator near the center of the axle hub and check the looseness in the bearing shaft direction.

      Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.) 

      If the looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub & bearing assy.

    6. Inspect the axle hub runout.
      1. Using a dial indicator, check the runout at the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.

      Maximum: 0.07 mm (0.0028 in.) 

      If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub & bearing assy.

    7. Install the rear disc (Rear disc brake type).
    8. Install the rear disc brake caliper assy (Rear disc brake type) (See REPLACEMENT ).
    9. Install the rear brake drum sub-assy (Rear brake drum type).
    10. Install the rear wheel.

      Torque: 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf)
