Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the brake actuator assy, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION ).
  1. CHECK DTC (See  DTC CHECK/CLEAR  )
    DTC

    A Normal System Code
    B Malfunction Code

B: REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTC (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART   )

    A: Go to next step

  2. CHECK IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU

    OK: Go to next step

  3. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (IG1 TERMINAL)

    WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER:

    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Select DATA LIST mode on the hand-held tester.
SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (IG1 TERMINAL) (USING HAND-HELD TESTER)

Item Measurement Item / Range (Display) Normal Condition
IG VOLTAGE ECU power supply voltage / NORMAL or TOO LOW NORMAL: 9.5 V or over
      TOO LOW: Below 9.5 V

    4. Check the voltage condition output from the ECU displayed on the hand-held tester.

    OK:

    "Normal" is displayed.

    WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER:

    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (IG1 TERMINAL) (NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER)  .

    Standard:

SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (IG1 TERMINAL) (NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER)

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    S1-46 (IG1) - S1-1 (GND2) 10 to 14 V
    S1-46 (IG1) - S1-32 (GND1) 10 to 14 V

    OK: Go to step   5

    NG: Go to next step

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND)
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S1.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND  .

    Standard:

SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    S1-1 (GND2) - Body ground Below 1
    S1-32 (GND1) - Body ground Below 1

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GND CIRCUIT)

OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (IG1 CIRCUIT)

  5. INSPECT HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER)
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S1 and combination meter connector C8.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER (1 OF 2)  .

      Standard:

SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER (1 OF 2)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S1-36 (VSCW) - C8-14 Below 1

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER (2 OF 2)  .

    Standard:

SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER (2 OF 2)

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    S1-36 (VSCW) - Body ground 10 k or higher

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step

  6. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSY
    1. Check the combination meter assy (See COMBINATION METER ).

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See step 11 in  REPLACEMENT  )

OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (See step 3 in  REPLACEMENT  )
